Paint Protection Film in Kent

Your vehicle’s paintwork is constantly exposed to stone chips, road debris, scratches, and environmental fallout. Paint protection film (PPF) adds a virtually invisible barrier that helps preserve your finish without changing the look. At RGVA in Maidstone, we install 3M PPF (Series 100, Series 150, and Scotchgard Pro Series 200) for drivers across Kent, with coverage options from targeted front-end protection to full-car installs.

Ready to protect your pride and joy? Get a quote today or call our team on 01622 673797 to discuss your PPF requirements.

Paint Protection Film Coverage Packages

We offer a range of PPF coverage options to suit different requirements and budgets. Each package is custom-cut to fit your specific vehicle model, ensuring precise coverage without visible edges or gaps.

Protects the leading edge of the bonnet, front bumper, and headlight surrounds — the areas most exposed to stone chips and road debris. A cost-effective option for drivers seeking essential protection without full coverage.

Extends coverage to the complete bonnet, front wings, front bumper, mirrors, and headlights. Shields all forward-facing surfaces from stone chips, scratches, and insect damage. Popular with premium and performance vehicle owners.

Builds on full front end protection with additional coverage on the rear wheel arches, lower door sections, and rear bumper corners. Ideal for track-day drivers and enthusiasts who need protection against gravel and debris during spirited driving.

Wraps every painted surface from bonnet to boot. Maximum preservation for high-value, classic, or collector vehicles — and ideal for daily drivers who want complete peace of mind and the easiest possible maintenance.

3M Warranty Backed

Our Installation Process

We begin with a thorough inspection of your vehicle’s paintwork. Any existing swirl marks, scratches, or contaminants are addressed before installation begins — applying PPF over imperfections would lock them in permanently. Your vehicle is then machine washed and decontaminated to ensure a flawless base.

Using precision DAP (Digital Automotive Patterns) software, we custom-cut the film to your exact vehicle model and trim level. This ensures clean, tight-fitting edges with no overlaps or visible seams — a far superior result compared to hand-cutting directly on the car.

The film is applied using a specialist slip solution, allowing precise positioning before bonding. We work panel by panel in a climate-controlled environment to prevent dust contamination. Edges are carefully tucked and wrapped to eliminate lifting points and create a seamless finish.

Heat guns are used to conform the film to complex curves, recesses, and body lines. This is the most skilled stage of the process and directly determines the long-term durability and appearance of the installation. Our installers are trained to achieve consistent results on even the most challenging panel shapes.

Once installation is complete, the vehicle is inspected under specialist lighting to identify any bubbles, contamination, or edge imperfections. Any issues are corrected before the vehicle is returned. You’ll receive a full walkthrough of the installation and aftercare guidance before collection.

PPF Aftercare Guide

Avoid washing the vehicle for at least 7 days after installation. The film’s adhesive needs time to fully cure and bond to the paintwork. During this period, keep the car away from car washes, pressure washers, and prolonged rain where possible. Small water bubbles or slight cloudiness during this time are normal and will self-correct as the film cures.

After the curing period, wash the vehicle using a pH-neutral car shampoo and a soft microfibre wash mitt. Avoid abrasive sponges or brushes. Touchless or hand washing is preferred — if using an automatic car wash, avoid brush-based systems. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a clean microfibre towel to prevent water spots.

Do not machine polish over PPF. The film is designed to absorb minor surface scratches through its self-healing properties — polishing is unnecessary and can cause damage. If the film develops deeper scratches or hazing over time, contact us to assess whether a section replacement is needed.

PPF can be waxed or ceramic coated to enhance gloss and add an extra layer of protection. Use products specifically formulated for use on PPF — avoid anything containing naphtha or kerosene, as these can damage the film. A ceramic coating over PPF is an excellent combination for low-maintenance protection and a deep, wet finish.

Clean fuel, bird droppings, tree sap, and insect residue from the film as soon as possible. These contaminants can stain or etch the film if left to dwell, particularly in warm weather. Use a dedicated bug and tar remover that is safe for PPF, or a diluted isopropyl alcohol solution applied with a microfibre cloth.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quality paint protection film typically lasts between 7 and 10 years depending on the product, installation quality, and how the vehicle is used and maintained. 3M Scotchgard Pro Series 200 and Series 150 carry 10-year limited warranties, while Series 100 offers a 7-year limited warranty. Real-world longevity depends on factors including sun exposure, washing habits, and driving conditions.

3M Scotchgard films are designed to resist yellowing and discolouration. Unlike some lower-quality films that can turn yellow with UV exposure, 3M products maintain their optical clarity throughout their service life. Choosing a reputable film brand and professional installation helps ensure your PPF remains clear.

Self-healing refers to the film’s ability to repair minor surface scratches and swirl marks when exposed to heat. The top coat has memory properties that allow it to return to its original smooth state. This works on light scratches from washing or light contact. Deeper scratches, cuts, or heavy damage will not self-heal. Heat from sunlight or warm water activates the self-healing process.

Yes, PPF can be removed without damaging the paint beneath when removed correctly. This makes it suitable for leased vehicles or situations where you may want to remove or replace the film in future. Professional removal is recommended to avoid any risk of adhesive residue or paint damage. The paint underneath should look as it did when the film was first applied.

Wash your vehicle using a gentle car shampoo and a soft wash mitt or microfibre towel. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a clean microfibre cloth. Avoid abrasive brushes, automatic car washes with harsh bristles, and solvent-based cleaners. The film’s hydrophobic properties help dirt and water sheet off, making washing easier and quicker.

Your choice depends on your budget, vehicle value, and driving habits. Partial front end suits drivers wanting essential protection at lower cost. Full front end covers all vulnerable forward-facing areas and is popular for premium vehicles. The Track Pack adds protection for performance driving. Full car provides maximum coverage for high-value vehicles or owners wanting complete peace of mind. Our team can help recommend the right option during consultation.

PPF cost varies depending on the coverage package, film type, and vehicle size and complexity. We provide individual quotes based on your specific requirements. Contact us with your vehicle details and desired coverage level for an accurate quote. While PPF represents an investment, it helps protect your vehicle’s paint and can preserve resale value.

For many drivers, PPF provides excellent value by preventing paint damage that would otherwise require expensive repairs or reduce resale value. Stone chip repairs, resprays, and touch-ups can cost significantly more than PPF installation. If you drive regularly on motorways, rural roads, or value your vehicle’s appearance, paint protection film offers meaningful benefits.

Paint protection film can be applied to most vehicles with factory-painted surfaces. This includes cars, vans, motorcycles, and commercial vehicles. Custom templates are available for a wide range of makes and models, ensuring precise fit. If your vehicle is particularly unusual, we can discuss bespoke solutions.

Installation time depends on the coverage level and vehicle complexity. Partial front end installations typically take less time than full car coverage. We will provide an estimated timescale when you book your installation. Most installations are completed within a day, though full car coverage may require longer.
