Air Purifying Banners

What are air purifying banners?

RGVA have been offering environmentally friendly alternatives to traditional PVC vinyl for many years. Always looking to help the environment further, we are proud to be pioneering Air Purifying Banners, which help transport operators reduce the harmful gasses emitted by all vehicles that burn fossil fuels whilst at the same time allowing businesses to capitalise on using their vehicles for advertising.

How does it all work?

The Clean Air by Resysten component comprises a nano-titania coating, triggering a photocatalytic process when exposed to light on the treated surface. This catalyst transforms the nearby air or air passing through into Hydroxyl radicals, known as the “detergent” of the troposphere. These radicals react with pollutants, breaking them down via oxidation into less harmful compounds like water and nitrate, which are then absorbed into the ground.

The additive has been scientifically proven to remove 0.222g/m² of NOx per day, so for a
standard 13m artic trailer, this equates to approximately 5.18kg NOx per year, equivalent
to approximately 1.54t of CO2!

Welcome to Clean Air by Resysten

A clear spray-on coating that bonds to hard surfaces and actively breaks down pollutants in the atmosphere, primarily targeting NOx, when exposed to light. Clean Air by Resysten is proven to remove dangerous substances which are significantly more harmful to health than CO2 emissions. It’s time to take your sustainability journey to the next level.

A Net Zero Initiative for the Air Cleaner Logistics to Reduce Air Pollution

  • 12,800m³
The amount of air that a standard 13.6m trailer with 64m² of printed Traxx system media will come into contact with every day.
  • 5.18kg
The amount of NOx potentially removed by each trailer coated with Clean Air by Resysten every year.
  • 1 tonne
Multiplied by an extended fleet of 200 trailers; this delivers a total removal of just over a metric ton of NOx per annum.
  • 511,000
Potential for the extended fleet to remove the NOx impact of 511,000 average vehicle journeys per annum.

The benefits to an intervention on air pollution

  • Air Quality – drives down NOx impact (UK / Global).
  • Employee Health – reduce lost days to associated health issues.
  • Community – positive position on air quality.
  • Self-Cleaning – reduces build-up of particulate matter.
  • Water Saving – save water usage in cleaning regimes.
  • ESG Positive – aligns to Green Fleet Strategy.
  • Immediate Impact – fast, cost-effective effect.

The Problem with NOx is that 99% of the world’s population live in areas that exceed safe air pollution limits. NO2 is a gas that is produced along with nitric oxide (NO) by combustion processes. Together they are often referred to as NOx. (Defra) estimates that 80% of NOx emissions in areas where the UK is exceeding NO2 limits are due to transport. Air pollution and exposure to NOx is now considered to be a significant risk to health.

Clean air can be part of a green fleet strategy and more…

  • Evolved from 10+ years of market leading antimicrobial science.
  • Uses the power of titanium dioxide (TiO2).
  • Proven to attack nitrogen oxides (NOx) in the atmosphere.
  • Self-cleaning qualities – ‘The Pilkington Effect’
  • Unique ‘binding’ IP giving a 12-month guarantee.
  • Prevents PM build-up on Solar PV panels improving kw performance.
  • Showcased at COP28 UAE
  • Independently tested to ISO 22197 standard, successfully meeting the pass criteria.

How the Science Works

The ISO tested removal rate for NOx is 222mg/m2/day.
This means that for every square meter of surface that is sprayed an average of 222mg of NOx will be removed from the atmosphere every day.
In real world terms 9 sqm of coverage will remove the NOx generated by an average vehicle every day!
