Kinship Transport, in partnership with Dawsongroup Truck & Trailer rental, is leading the way in sustainable transport by integrating Air Purifying Banners, powered by Clean Air into their new fleet of 13.6m fridge trailers. These trailers feature Kinship’s new crisp blue and white livery on digitally printed banners coated with Clean Air, a ground breaking photocatalytic coating designed to reduce harmful pollutants.

What is Clean Air?

Clean Air is a clear, spray-on coating that is activated by sunlight and primarily targets nitrogen oxides (NOx), which are harmful greenhouse gas pollutants. The key ingredient in Clean Air is titanium dioxide (TiO2), a photocatalyst that uses sunlight to break down NOx particles into harmless nitrogen, oxygen, and nitrates. This process naturally disperses the pollutants back into the environment. Clean Air has earned the ISO 22197-1 accreditation, which validates its ability to decompose NOx at an impressive rate of 222mg per m² per day.

Environmental Impact of Kinship’s Fleet:

Each of Kinship’s trailers has a surface area of 66m², meaning that each trailer will process around 13,200m³ of air daily. This interaction allows the Clean Air coating to remove 14.52 grams of NOx per day or 5.30 kilograms of NOx per year. Given that NOx has a Carbon Dioxide Equivalent (CO2e) factor of 298*, this equates to an annual reduction of 1,579 kilograms of CO2e. This reduction is equivalent to 2,610 average car journeys or equivalent to the carbon sequestered by 23 seedlings grown for 10 years.

With five trailers on their fleet, Kinship is set to eliminate 26.5 kilograms of NOx per year, which translates to 7,897 kilograms of CO2e, or the carbon footprint of 13,052 typical car journeys annually or equivalent to the carbon sequestered by 116 seedlings grown for 10 years.

Additional Environmental Benefits:

Aside from removing harmful pollutants, Clean Air helps keep the banners on the trailer’s cleaner, meaning fewer trailer washes are necessary. This reduces the use of detergents, water, and energy, contributing to further environmental savings.

Kinship’s Pioneering Role:

Kinship is at the forefront of transforming how commercial vehicle signage can help reduce the environmental impact of transport operations. By implementing Air Purifying Banners using the Clean Air solution, they not only enhance the visual appeal of their fleet but also make a significant contribution to improving air quality.

This innovative solution showcases how even small changes in the transport sector can lead to large environmental benefits and we are proud to bring this product to our customers.
